Dyson DC33 Review
Dyson are a respected brand when it comes to bagless vacuum cleaners, and with good reason since the vast majority of customers are very happy with their Dyson purchases. One of the models which is currently among their bestsellers is the DC33, which is a bagless upright vacuum cleaner. This review looks at the Dyson DC33 Multi Floor but most of the points can also be applied to the DC33 Animal, which comes with attachments specifically tailored to the needs of pet owners.

The technical part...
Save for a few tweaks that optimise the vacuum cleaners for specific situations (in the Dyson DC33 Multi Floor vacuum cleaner's case this scenario is households with different flooring types), most Dyson models are similar. These are the features that the DC33 Multi Floor incorporates:
Clear dust bin - like all Dyson models, this vacuum cleaner is transparent so you can see how much dust and debris it contains. It is engineered not to become less effective as the bin fills up, but it is still handy to know when it is becoming full to capacity and rather satisfying to be able to see that the vacuum cleaner really is doing its job and picking up everything from your carpet and hard floors.
Telescopic wand - Dyson now include a quick release telescopic wand with their upright vacuum cleaners so you still get many of the benefits that used to be associated with cylinder models, such as being able to reach into high corners and difficult nooks and crannies.
On-board tool storage - This product comes with both a combination tool and a stair tool. For ease of use as you move around your home, they can be stored on-board so they are always to hand when they are required.
Washable HEPA filter - The HEPA (High-Efficiency Particle Air) filter prevents the tiniest unwanted particles - such as pollen and mould spores - from being expelled back into the air. This is a good feature for households with one or more allergy sufferers.
What is good about the Dyson DC33 Multi Floor?
The Dyson DC33 Multi Floor upright vacuum cleaner is popular because of its excellent suction and cleaning ability, whether you are using it on carpet or on laminate or vinyl. Although this effectiveness does mean that you may need to empty the bin very regularly due to the amount of dust it picks up (thankfully simple to do). In common with all Dyson cleaners, the bag-free system also means you will be saving money in the long term despite the initial outlay (Dysons are more expensive than other brands). You also wont need to worry that you will have to upgrade your vacuum cleaner solely because the company stops producing the dust bags you need long before your vacuum cleaner becomes faulty or unreliable, (which can happen with bagged models!).
The HEPA filter makes a Dyson an excellent choice for people are allergic to allergens such as dust or pollen. It is approved by the British Allergy Foundations and the notoriously stringent Allergie Suisse, as well as 10 other allergy foundations worldwide.
The plus points specific to the DC33 include its extra long cord. At 9.25 metres, the cable is longer than on earlier Dyson models and sufficient for most people's vacuuming needs. The hose is also greater in length, giving a reach of an extra 10cm. Its final selling point is that is cheaper than other Dyson upright vacuum cleaners, particularly on Amazon.
Are there many negatives?
There is very little about this product which customers are unhappy about. If a lightweight vacuum cleaner is high on your list of priorities, this may not be the best Dyson product for you. The DC33 is described as a lightweight model because at 8kg it is lighter than an average upright vacuum cleaner, but the DC25 Multi Floor is actually lighter at only 7.2kg and may be a better option for customers who find weight an issue.
Unlike the DC25, it does not feature the Dyson pivot-ball technology which would allow for extra manoeuvrability when steering the vacuum cleaner. But this is a function which divides people, and some people prefer the DC33's more traditional design. It is also a little noisy.
What are the differences between the DC33 Multi Floor, the DC33 Animal and the DC33 Stubborn?
As already touched on in the opening paragraph, there isn't a great deal of difference between the three models. For the most part, the three vacuum cleaners are the same (identical, if you don't count a difference in colour). But the DC33 Animal comes with a soft dusting brush and a mini turbine head which is particularly suited to removing hair and allergens associated with households with pets, which the Multi Floor does not. The DC33 Stubborn is geared towards stubborn stains so Stubborn Dirt brush and Dyzolv Spot Cleaner spray come as standard. These attachments can be bought separate from the Dyson vacuum cleaners, but it works out more cost effective to buy them at the outset as part of a package.
What do customers say?
This is a small selection of what customers on Amazon had to say about their Dyson DC33 Multi Floor :
"I love it, and sadly have vacuumed the carpets to within an inch of their life. Love it, love it, love it!"
"Well worth the money and I will now always go for the best!"
"After using this Dyson my sinus problems have been greatly alleviated!"
